Grafting Workshop – Sat 2nd Sept 2017
GRAFTING WORKSHOP – Saturday 2nd September 2017 9:30am – 2:30pm
- Expert hands on tuition from career orchardist and master graftsman Henry Hilton from Snowline Fruits
- Full local fare lunch
- 2 of your very own grafted apple trees to take home (choose from over 10 apple varieties)
Join us at Black Barn Farm in our apple packing shed during an early Spring morning while the moon is waxing and the sap is starting to flow as you learn the ancient art of grafting your very own fruit trees.
Learn about the different types of grafts, why graft at all, best time of year to graft, knife safety, rootstocks, scion wood, permaculture tips and tricks and of course plenty of practice before you then try your skills on your very own apple trees to take home.
Notes: BYO knife (grafting knives are strongly suggested over a normal pocket knife for an effective graft). If you don’t have a grafting knife you can purchase a swiss made Felco grafting knife for just $20 online from Forestry Tools.
Book early though as last year sold out.
